Terms of Service

Welcome to Pnyx. These Terms are the agreement between you and Pnyx LLC, a [STATE] limited liability company ("Pnyx", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Pnyx you agree to them. We've kept them plain-English, because a civic tool shouldn't need a lawyer to read.

1. What Pnyx is

Pnyx is a civic-engagement platform: a daily poll, legislation and campaign-finance information drawn from public sources, and discussion in the Agora. It is not legal, financial, or election advice, and it is not a scientific survey.

2. Who can use Pnyx

  • You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You'll be asked for your date of birth at sign-up.
  • The Agora (our discussion spaces) is limited to users 16 and older.
  • One account per person. Don't share your login, and don't create accounts to manipulate polls or discussions.
  • Pnyx is built for U.S. residents; residency is on the honor system.

3. Acceptable use

You're welcome to vote honestly, follow legislation, and take part in the Agora. You may not use bot or duplicate accounts, manipulate poll results, harass other people, spam, impersonate anyone, or post illegal content. We may remove content that breaks these rules, and a moderator or the author can delete individual messages; deleted messages are replaced with a "[removed]" placeholder rather than silently vanishing. You can also report a message for review.

4. Content you post

You keep ownership of what you post in the Agora. You grant Pnyx a non-exclusive license to display and distribute it within the product so the conversation works. We may remove content that violates these Terms. If you delete your account, your public messages are anonymized (detached from you) rather than torn out of other people's threads.

5. Premium features

Some features may be offered as a paid subscription in the future. Any pricing, billing, renewal, and cancellation terms will be shown to you before you are ever charged. Pnyx does not process any payments today.

6. Our intellectual property

The Pnyx name, logo, and design are ours. You may not copy or reuse them without permission. Public data we present (bills, votes, campaign-finance filings) comes from government and other public sources and belongs to those sources.

7. Disclaimers

  • Poll results reflect what Pnyx members chose. They are self-reported and are not a scientific sample of any population.
  • Legislation, voting, and campaign-finance data come from public sources and official filings. We don't guarantee they are complete or real-time, and filings lag reality.
  • We are not legal, financial, or election advisors, and nothing here is professional advice.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Pnyx is provided "as is", and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months before the claim. [This clause is subject to attorney review.]

9. Indemnification

You agree to cover claims arising from your misuse of Pnyx or your violation of these Terms, to the extent the law allows. [Subject to attorney review.]

10. Termination

We may suspend or close an account that violates these Terms. You can delete your account at any time from Account settings — it's self-service and asks for your password to confirm.

11. Governing law & disputes

12. Changes to these Terms

If we change these Terms materially, we'll update the version above and let you know in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the new Terms.
