How to Use: Legislation

Tabs

  • Bills — Legislation still moving through the process (not yet law).
  • Laws — Bills that became law (signed, enacted without a signature, or passed over a veto).
  • Tracked — The bills and laws you're following. Tap + Track on any card to add it.

Filters & Search

  • Federal / State / Local — Switch between levels of government.
  • All Statuses — Narrow to a specific stage in the legislative process.
  • All Categories — Filter by policy area.
  • Newest / Oldest / A–Z — Change the sort order.
  • Search box — Search by bill title, number, or keyword.
  • Orange button — Shows or hides the Public Opinion bars on all cards. Toggle it off for a cleaner reading experience; toggle it on to see sentiment at a glance.

Reading a Bill Card

Each card represents one piece of legislation. At the top you'll find the bill number, its current status, category tag, and the date it was introduced. Below that is the bill's title, followed by a plain-English summary of what it actually does, then the Public Opinion bar showing how other Pnyx users feel about it.

Tags Explained

  • Bill number — H.R. = House bill, S. = Senate bill, H.Res./S.Res. = simple resolution.
  • Status badge — shows where the bill is in the legislative process (see below).
  • Category tag — the policy area (Climate, Economy, Healthcare, etc.).

Thumbs Up / Down

Use the thumbs buttons at the bottom of each card to record your personal stance. Your vote is anonymous and feeds directly into the Public Opinion bar — the colored bar showing the community split between Support and Oppose, broken down by political party affiliation.
